Supply
The raw materials and components used in AEG PS Group’s products are available from a variety of sup-
pliers, and AEG PS Group has established long-term cooperative relationships with numerous suppliers in
order to ensure a stable supply of raw materials and components. AEG PS Group generally ensures that at
least two suppliers are available for each item. Material costs generally represent the largest component of
AEG PS Group's costs.
For Renewable Energy Solutions products, AEG PS Group purchases thyristors, customised ASICs, low
frequency magnetics, electro-mechanical components, mechanical components, large capacitors and addi-
tional raw materials, such as copper. Electro-mechanical components include circuit breakers and connec-
tors. Mechanical components include frames, covers, shelves and cooling apparatuses. AEG PS Group
currently sources string inverters as finished products from a third party supplier.
For products in the Energy Efficiency Solutions segment, primary materials purchased by AEG PS Group
include thyristors, micro-processors and integrated control modules, low frequency magnetics, batteries
(lead-acid, nickel-cadmium and lithium-ion), mechanical and electro-mechanical components and addi-
tional raw materials, such as copper as well as power transistors (complementary metal-oxide semicon-
ductor, field effect transistors), integrated control modules, micro-processors, high frequency magnetics,
electro-mechanical components, lead acid batteries and mechanical components. Electro-mechanical
components include circuit breakers, fans and connectors. Mechanical components include frames, cov-
ers, shelves and cooling apparatuses.
Sales and Marketing
AEG PS Group markets its products and services through direct sales teams specific to each segment and
the targeted end markets. AEG PS Group's sales team (including sales marketing) consisted of 122 em-
ployees as at 31 December 2009 and 112 employees as at 30 September 2010. Sales teams are assigned to
OEMs, end users, value-added resellers and manufacturers' representatives. The majority of AEG PS
Group's products are sold directly to OEMs and end users, with the remainder sold through catalogues or
third-party distributors.
Additionally, the Energy Efficiency Solutions segment's sales team is focused on pursuing sizable oppor-
tunities to provide total solutions for telecom applications in markets with less reliable power infrastruc-
ture systems, including the Middle East, Africa and Asia, continuing to offer custom hybrid DC power
supply systems to wireless, wireline and broadband service providers, especially in Western Europe.
To capture the growing market for low power UPS products, AEG PS Group has established a network of
distributors throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, with a centralised logistics centre in
Germany. In addition, AEG PS Group utilises its sales force to pursue direct sales of low power UPS
products to end users as part of large infrastructure projects.
Property, Plant and Equipment
AEG PS Group owns the real estate on which it operates its production facilities in Chambray-les-Tours,
France, Warstein-Belecke, Germany, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia and Vitoria, Spain. For the remainder of the
production real estate leases have been concluded (see:Description of the Issuer - Business of the Issuer
- Manufacturing and Supply”).
AEG PS Group does not use finance leasing in any material way and hence its equipment is owned by the
respective group entities.
