Standard Power Control Modules
In its Power Control Systems and Modules sub-segment, AEG PS Group's offers standard digital thyristor
power control modules under the Thyro-S, Thyro-A and Thyro-P product lines. The Thyro family of
power control modules switch, control and regulate electrical energy for industrial processes. Typical
applications include thermally sensitive manufacturing processes (for example, melting, heating, drying
or forming) which require tightly controlled voltages or currents, such as polysilicon manufacturing, glass
processing, plastic extrusion, chemical preheating and infrared drying.
The Thyro-S line is used for applications with a low-intensity of voltage and/or current, such as glass
bending, while the Thyro-A line is used for medium-intensity applications, such as vacuum furnaces, and
the Thyro-P is used for high-intensity applications, such as TFT glass and polysilicon production.
The Thyro-A3 A…E line enables fully digital SCR (Silicon-Controlled Rectifier) Power Control Com-
munications for lighting applications reducing power during periods when full lighting intensity is not
required. The line also provides for remote control via widely available interface options and communica-
tion protocols.

Standard power control modules are offered in ranges from 16A to 2900A with voltages of 230V to
690V. Standard power control modules offer communication via Profibus-DP, Modbus RTU, CANopen
and DeviceNet which are all communication protocols (message formats and the rules for exchanging
those messages) transferring data between computers of an integrated network. Those protocols may in-
clude signalling, authentication and error detection and correction capabilities.
Custom Power Control Systems
AEG PS Group also offers custom power control systems utilizing its standard Thyro-S, Thyro-A and
Thyro-P control modules to provide integrated systems for industrial applications requiring precise con-
trol of temperature, and/or voltage and current. This segment specialises in designing AC systems for
complex, high-voltage, high-current power and thermal control applications in accordance with individual
customer specifications. These systems include power electronics and modules, electro-mechanical de-
vices, power control modules and electrical distribution means (busbars, cables, connectors, sensors) as
an integrated system. Thyro-P based custom power control systems are driven by a proprietary applica-
tion specific integrated circuit ("ASIC") within the power control module, which offers functional capa-
bility for industrial thermal and power control applications.
In early 2010, AEG PS Group introduced the Thyrobox M, a compact polysilicon power supply system
engineered with a modular design which allows for the integration of a state of the art medium voltage
ignition power control system for the initial heating of the silicon rods which are used in polysilicon pro-
duction. In September 2010 AEG PS Group introduced its new Thyrobox PI power system. The Thy-
robox PI allows manufacturers of polysilicon to increase the efficiency of their existing polysilicon reac-
tors, depending on reactor configuration and process condition. Thyrobox PI can easily be added to exist-
ing AEG PS Group Thyrobox power systems. Management expects that the Tyrobox PI will be an attrac-
tive solution for polysilicon manufacturers refurbishing their production plants.
